What The Personalized Song collects to make your song, where it is kept, and how to delete it.

The short version

To write and make a personalized song we need your answers (who it is for, their name, your story) and, for the preview, an email address. We use them to make your song and to send it to you. We do not sell them, and we do not use them to train anyone's AI models.

What we collect

Your answers to the song questions: the relationship, their name and how to say it, a nickname, the occasion, the style, the mood, the qualities you pick, your story, a line to include and who the song is from. Until you ask for lyrics, these stay in your own browser (local storage) so you can come back to them.
The lyrics and the song we make from your answers, and any edits you make to the lyrics.
Your email address, when you ask for a preview. We first email you a 6-digit code to confirm the address is yours (we keep only a scrambled form of the code, and it stops working after 15 minutes), then send you the private link when the preview is ready.
The IP address a code is asked for from, and how many codes and previews come from it, so one person cannot make endless free previews. We use it only for these limits.
A guest session cookie, set when you ask for lyrics, so the site knows which song drafts are yours. You do not create an account.
Payment details are entered on Stripe's checkout page, not on ours. We receive the order status, the amount, and the email you used at checkout, never your card number.

How your answers are processed

Lyrics are written by a language model. Your answers are sent through OpenRouter, Inc. to the model provider that hosts it, only to write your lyrics.
Music and vocals are made by an AI music model run by fal (Features & Labels, Inc.). It receives the lyrics and a short description of the style, not your email.
Payments are handled by Stripe, Inc. through Stripe Managed Payments. Link (a Stripe company) is the merchant of record: it takes the payment, works out and collects any sales tax or VAT, and sends your receipt, so it receives your checkout details (name, email, billing address and payment method) under its own privacy policy.
Emails about your song (the code and the links) are sent through Resend.
Storage: your song, answers and email are kept in our database (Supabase, hosted in Canada), and the audio files in private Cloudflare R2 storage.
Hosting: the site runs on Vercel, which serves the pages and keeps the server logs described below.

Each of these processes data under its own terms and privacy policy, only to provide its part of the service.

Who can see your song

Your song has a private link with a long random address. Anyone you give that link to can open it and see the lyrics and hear the free preview; it is not listed, linked from our site, or indexed by search engines. The full song and the gift page are only available once the song is paid for.

How long we keep it

We keep your song, its lyrics and your answers so the links keep working. You can ask us to delete your song, your answers and your email at any time by writing to support@thepersonalizedsong.com; we delete them within 30 days. Order records are kept as long as tax law requires.

Server logs

The hosting provider that serves this site (Vercel) may automatically record standard request information such as IP address, browser type, the page requested, and the time of the request. These logs are used to keep the site running and secure.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used. It records page views, your approximate location (country or city), browser, operating system, and the site that referred you. When you use the song quiz it also records which steps you reach and general choices such as the occasion and style, and when lyrics, previews, checkouts and downloads happen. Names, stories, lyrics and email addresses are never sent to analytics.

Google Analytics is provided by Google and processes this data under the Google Privacy Policy. You can see how Google uses data from sites that use its services, and you can opt out with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Visitors from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland are not given analytics cookies by default; only cookieless, anonymous measurements are sent.

Cookies

We set a guest session cookie when you ask for lyrics, so your drafts stay yours. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (named _ga and _ga_*) to tell new visits from returning ones. We do not use cookies for advertising.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing support@thepersonalizedsong.com. California residents have these rights under the CCPA; we do not sell or share personal information as those laws define it.
